This ClickMagick tutorial will demonstrate how to track your affiliate links….
…an absolute necessity to compete effectively at the highest levels.
You may be running your affiliate business through blogs, YouTube videos, paid ads and social media posts.
Tracking where your affiliate commissions are coming from is critical for planning where to deploy most of your resources and ad spend.
I was ignorant of the importance of tracking when I first got into affiliate marketing promoting ClickFunnels.
Using ClickMagick to track my affiliate links, has since helped level up my business by providing critical financial metrics.
I will show you how I use ClickMagick to track my ClickFunnels affiliate links.
Sign Up For ClickMagick
A ClickMagick account is obviously the place to start.
I use the $67/month Standard Plan which can track five funnels.
However you can also employ the $27/mo entry level Starter Plan though you can only track one funnel at a time.
ClickMagick has a free 14-day trial to give you a feel of the software.
There is a 30-day money back refund anytime.
Create Tracking SubIDs
Generate a ClickFunnels affiliate custom link from your affiliate back office.
Use any random SubID for SubID 1. Use any term to identify the funnel or offer in SubID 2 like cf trial.
This is will generate a custom link as shown below.
Copy the custom link to a clipboard.
The custom link would look like this:
Now replace the random SubID with [clickid].
Create ClickMagick Tracking Link
Create a new tracking link in ClickMagick by pasting the ClickFunnels affiliate custom link as the ‘Primary URL’ and save.
Now you can track all your clicks with one single tracking link.
This is why I love ClickMagick.
When someone clicks your tracking link, ClickMagick will dynamically replace [clickid] with a unique 9 digit number and then direct them to your ClickFunnels affiliate link.
The 9 digit click ID will show up in one our SubID columns in your affiliate CSV report.
Click ID Lookup
Now click on Tools on ClickMagick, then click on Click ID Lookup.
Type in the 9 digit number and hit Show Click ID History.
ClickMagick will display the IP address associated with that clickID.
Clicking on the hyperlinked IP address will show you the entire click history for that person, the order of every tracking link they clicked on and when.
Calculate Return On Investment (ROI)
You can calculate the ROI for the tracking link associated with the IP address.
This is achieved by manually entering the revenue generated and traffic cost at the tracking link level or if using a bridge page, also at the front end funnel link level.
I will go into more detail on this in another tutorial.
The above tracking method is simple and can be applied to many affiliate programs.
Tracking your affiliate affiliate links will give you a competitive edge in affiliate marketing.
Investing in a robust tracking software should be a priority.
